Charles “Charlie” Norris, 79, of Fairfield, died on September 9, 2007 in Palo Alto, California. Born December 10, 1927 in Ancon, Canal Zone, he served in the U.S. Army Occupational Forces receiving the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal-Japan. Charlie married Charlotte Blair Dye on September 2, 1948 in Balboa, Canal Zone. He graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois and worked as an accountant in California before returning to Panama where he worked for the Panama Canal Company for 11 years. He came back to the United States in 1968 and worked 10 years as Chief of Audits for Solano County. He and Charlotte began investing in real estate in Fairfield in 1968 which continues today into the third generation. Charlie will be remembered as a wonderful and giving dad, loving grandfather and friend to many across the United States and through the Panama Canal Society. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte. He is survived by his four children, Charles Norris Jr and wife Vicki, Chris Norris and wife Joanna, Carole Espino and husband John, all of Fairfield; Cynthia Hodes and husband Cameron of Walnut Creek, and 9 grandchildren: Christopher, Nicole, Nathan, Charlotte, Helen, Charlie, Clayton, Emmett and Blake. He is also survived by his brother Hugh Norris of Texas and his sister Lillian Schwarz of Illinois. A memorial service will take place at Parkway Community Church, 2397 Heath Drive, Fairfield, Ca, on September 22, at 11 a.m. with a reception immediately following.
